The possibility of locomotory and exploratory behavior correction after minimal sensorimotor cortex trauma was studied in a rat model. Testing in «open field» showed that the behavior of rats from the cell therapy group recovered to normal (values) by the 4th week after trauma, whereas no spontaneous increase of locomotory and exploratory activities was observed in the control group. Moreover, after MSC transplantation the quantity of microvessels and morphologically intact neurons in the border zone of trauma was greater as compared with the control. As a result, the damaged tissue volume was less in the cell therapy group due to reduction of delayed neuronal loss. What is more, MSC injection prevented degeneration of white matter tracts in the caudate nucleus.
