The application of multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells (MMSC), derived from the bone marrow, is an effective therapeutic method to treat various pathologies, including hematologic malignancies. MMSC clinical application requires their in vitro expansion to obtain the necessary amount of cells, and the cultivation period is limited to six passages. However, concerning the properties of this cell type, e.g. their proliferation activity, there are still a lot of different opinions. In our work we have investigated the dependence of the proliferative activity of MMSC from the third to seventh passage after cryopreservation, which are commonly used in clinics, on donor gender and age, and also on the percent of CD71+ cells in bone marrow aspirates and MMSC cultures. We have found that the proliferation of MMSC has no correlations with the above mentioned factors. The pure populations of MMSC is possible to obtain from donors of 18 to 70 years old.
